“Thus With a Kiss, I Die” was a true collaborative passion project between Savea and Lucas. Savea took on the roles of the director, cinematographer, story writer, editor, and co-writer, while Lucas served as producer and co writer. The two were high school seniors in the same media arts class, both eager to create a standout short film for their final year.

In February 2023, Lucas reached out to Savea after being inspired by her previous short film, Remnants (2024). From there, pre-production for “Thus With a Kiss, I Die” began. Savea developed the story and cast the actors, while Lucas co-wrote the script an assisted in scouting locations. Together, they poured months of dedication into the project, wrapping up filming and editing on June 5th – Just one day before graduation.

The Film premiered to an enthusiastic audience at their high school’s performing arts center, marking a memorable close to their senior year. Energized by the experience, Savea and Lucas plan to continue working together over the summer, with more creative projects already on the horizon.
